Privacy Policy

This policy describes information handled when a visitor uses this private reference resource, including the treatment of technical activity and third-party search tools.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

Information entered into a site search widget is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. That provider processes the query under its own policy. This resource does not keep a separate database of the names or case numbers entered into the widget.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If a visitor sends an email, the message may be retained to respond or manage the request. It is not shared outside the organization except when a legal obligation requires disclosure.

Data We Gather Automatically

Technical information generated by an ordinary web visit may include:

  • IP address
  • Browser version and device type
  • Operating system
  • Visited pages and approximate visit duration
  • Referring site, if one exists
  • Page-view timestamps

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies and analytics tools may be used to understand site performance and visitor patterns. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may affect some functions. Aggregate analytics are used for operational purposes rather than to create court-record profiles.

What We Do With This Data

  • Operate and secure the service
  • Route a query to the selected third-party search tool
  • Measure page performance and resolve technical issues
  • Understand aggregate use of the reference material
  • Support advertising that may appear on the service

No Court-Record Data on File

Rockingham County Court Docket does not host, compile, sell, or maintain a database of local dockets, case files, or personal case information. The Rockingham County Clerk of Superior Court is the custodian for county court documents. North Carolina’s G.S. 7A-109 addresses clerk-maintained court records, and G.S. 132-1 states the state public-records rule. Neither changes this private site’s visitor-data practices.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside providers operate the search boxes on the site. A query submitted to one of those tools is governed by that provider’s privacy, retention, and disclosure practices. Review the provider’s own policy before submitting information. This resource does not control a partner’s results, pricing, or data practices.

Links to Other Websites

Links to the Rockingham County Clerk, the eCourts Portal, court calendars, and other official resources take a visitor to another service. That service’s privacy policy governs activity after the visitor leaves this resource. Advertising partners may also collect activity on their own systems to deliver or measure advertising.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal information is not sold. Depending on the activity, limited information may be processed by:

  • A third-party search provider chosen by the visitor
  • Analytics vendors used for traffic and performance measurement
  • Advertising networks that serve site advertising
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal requirement applies

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for information handled by the service. No internet transmission or storage practice can promise absolute security, so visitors should avoid entering sensitive information into any third-party tool unless they accept that provider’s terms.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a child supplied personal information, an email request can be used to seek deletion where applicable.

Your Data Rights

Visitors may ask about personal information held through a direct message, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion where applicable, or opt out of certain processing. North Carolina’s Public Records Act concerns records of public agencies; it does not make this privately operated reference resource a government record custodian. Court-record access is governed by the clerk and the court-record rules described in G.S. 7A-109 and related law.

  • Request information held in a direct communication
  • Ask for correction of inaccurate personal details
  • Request deletion where retention is not required
  • Ask about available choices for data processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may change as the service changes. The current version will be posted here with an updated effective date.
